Supplies provided for 1st class.  Come learn perspective and composition to get you started with learning Acrylic painting techniques and various uses of brushes, canvases, gesso, mediums etc…

In this class you will create unique and wonderful designs using ink from the Elegant Ink Writer pen by Speedball.  These beautiful designs come alive by just adding water or mixing in watercolor pigment. It will make watercolor 
seem simple and easy.

Write your life story!  Learn how to shape your memories and life stories into creative nonfiction or poetry.  This prompt-based workshop will use writing exercises to help you generate ideas while learning new techniques and skills for shaping your narratives.  Participants will leave with several short new pieces started and/or drafted.  Participants are welcome to take one or both classes.

Materials needed:  Paper or journal and writing utensil.
Skill Level:  beginner – all welcome

July 13, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm     [Beginner Watercolor]

Students will learn a general overview of watercolor…its paper, paints, brushes, and styles.  All supplies will be furnished to complete a landscape painting that concentrates on rocks and trees.

July 14 - 15, **2-day 10:00 am – 12:30 pm     [Draw a Backyard Bird in Graphite Pencil]

Instructor: Sue deLearie Adair

Join Sue for two mornings of drawing your favorite backyard birds.  Sue will provide several references for you to choose from including Chickadees and Nuthatches.  We will review basic drawing techniques and then concentrate on how to create realistic drawings of wild birds using graphite pencils.  You should leave the class with a completed drawing and better knowledge of how to draw birds.

Watercolor Batik is a fun and exciting technique to learn.  While using rice paper, pen, watercolor pigment and wax, you will experience a unique way of watercolor painting by building up richly colored layers of paint and wax to create beautiful images.

July 27, 9:00am -  12:00 pm     [Intermediate Watercolor]
Instructor:  Eileen Ditch
Students should be familiar with watercolor.  An emphasis will be placed on value studies and their importance in completing a successful painting.  We’ll use tracing paper to draw thumbnails, trace the original image and then paint from our value study.

July 31, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm     [Intro to Watercolor Techniques]
Instructor:  Paul Allen Taylor
This class will associate the student with the basic applications of watercolor, how to work with the medium in the fluid state and control it to act as one wishes. Textures and shapes will be the leading topic of this class where students learn to identify and create everyday shapes with watercolor. Small practice paintings will be done to illustrate these applications.
